Drugmaker Pfizer is pulling Mylotarg, a decade-old leukemia medicine, off the U.S. market after a study found a higher death rate and no benefit for patients. Mylotarg won approval under an abbreviated process. The study involved more than 3,000 women who had self-reported (not medically diagnosed) fibromyalgia and other illnesses believed to put them at risk. Research Brief Irregular cranial blood-flow patterns in people with fibromyalgia may be able to predict who will respond well to the drug gabapentin, according to a new study published in Arthritis Research & Therapy. Researchers looked at SPECT scans of brains before and after treatment with gabapentin and found that people with a particular set of abnormalities responded poorly to the drug, while people with a different set of abnormalities responded well to it.
